Portrait of an Unidentified Man (Abridged)
June 12 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
More Live Theatre!
After the phenomenal success of Will Somers: 1 & 2, and Blood on the Moon, I(solo)lation Theatre and Pierre Brault return to livestream audiences with his most critically acclaimed show Portrait of an Unidentified Man: Abridged!
Artist, fraud, chameleon, victim? Elmyr de Hory was all of these, and arguably the most notorious, successful and prolific art forger of the twentieth century. Never fully recognized as an artist in his own right, and eternally frustrated by this fact, de Hory turned to forging in the style of his contemporaries; Matisse, Picasso and Modigliani with astonishing success.
In his own incomparable style, Pierre Brault crafts over a dozen colourful characters, from Orson Welles and Zsa Zsa Gabor to de Hory himself and the artists whose work he forged, to tell a riveting story that explores the very nature of art and identity.
“A theatrical feat from every point of view” CBC Radio Ottawa

“..immediately relevant, bitingly funny and so well written and acted…” The Press (Christchurch, New Zealand)
