Segment #5 – Feature Film: Life or Rain
LIFE OR RAIN | Lavinie Boffy | 1 hour, 30 minutes | France | 2019
A choral film which recounts the life choices of women in the same family throughout a century. Director Lavinie Boffy reminisces her childhood in a family mainly composed of women. Through the portrait of each one of them, it is the portrait of the construction of a female identity that is gradually taking shape. The story alternates between the director’s look at herself as a child and at her ancestors. With the help of an intimate voice-over, the film shares a woman’s questioning about how to define her place in the world.
