Good morning, everyone! I hope you all enjoyed a great weekend and are prepared for the rainy week ahead. April showers, right? We can’t complain too much about that, though… at least it’s not snow!
In this edition of my newsletter, I’ve got some exciting news to share, an announcement about a great festival series lineup, and a brief overview of the events happening in the week ahead.
First, let’s start with the exciting news! For those of you who are regular readers here, you may have noticed some changes! As of last week, I launched a new look and feel on my site, making the Events Calendar much more user-friendly! This will make it easier for events to be populated and for you (the readers!) to use the calendar to see what is going on! Over the next few weeks, I’ll be making some additional content changes, updating the former, ‘What to do in Ottawa’ section, now called ‘Activities in Ottawa,’ to make sure it’s as accurate as possible, and that it includes all of the best local places to go out and have some fun. I hope you’ll like the changes! I do realize that this is probably mostly just exciting for me, but I think that you’ll find that the upgrade makes the website much more user-friendly, especially on your mobiles!
I am also happy to announce that I’m expanding, and that I am bringing on some staff to help me out. Demand for event promotion is skyrocketing, and I’m finding that I need assistance to ensure that I am bringing you the best and most complete information possible. I pride myself on providing the most comprehensive listing of events in Ottawa, and I aim to be the best source of information for all entertainment; if you want to help me to achieve that, please share my website with your friends and family!

Stuff and Things for this week!

It’s a busy week in Ottawa, and it will continue to get busier, with festival season right around the corner, literally only days away! This week’s highlighted festival is the year’s first food festival, as mentioned above. Ottawa Poutine and Potato Palooza takes place this week and weekend at Ottawa City Hall. Kicking off on Thursday, you can find over 100 different types of poutine, from the standard to the exotic! Head downtown and indulge in some great poutine, craft beer and local live music!
It’s another great week in Ottawa for theatre, too! At Arts Court, you will find Exciting Cause, presented by TACTICS – Theatre Arts Cooperative: The Independent Collective Series. This show runs from April 26 – May 5th. Tickets are still available through Eventbrite!

This week also features the finale of Agatha Christie’s “The Mousetrap” at The Gladstone. This Phoenix Players presentation will be running only until Saturday night, so you don’t have a lot of time left to see it!
As you know, our Ottawa Senators didn’t make the playoffs again this year. However, our Ottawa 67’s did, and they’re killing it!! With no summer sports starting up just yet, let’s get out there and support our only sports team currently playing! IF a Game 7 is needed in round #2, they’ll be playing here at TD Place, but that will depend on the results of Monday night’s game, so pay attention, and go support our junior team!
Finally, I typically like to mention the major tradeshow happening here each week. Springtime in Ottawa has a large trade show pretty much every week at the EY Centre. The Ottawa Cottage Life and Backyard show seemed to be quite popular this past weekend (based on the parking lot), and then this week coming up, it will be followed up by the always popular 55 Plus Lifestyle Show. This show runs Friday and Saturday (also at the EY Centre), and I’ve heard that it’s a great show! I don’t quite meet the demographics for it just yet, but I’ll check with my folks to get their thoughts on it after they attend. Also this weekend, the annual Ottawa Military Heritage Show takes place on Saturday, April 29th at the Nepean Sportsplex.

That’s it for me for this edition. I hope you’ll like the website changes that have come out so far, I’ve got lots more in the works. Let’s work to keep Ottawa alive, as opposed to, ‘the city where fun came to die!’
Cheers everyone; have a great week!
