Happy family day to all my non-government worker friends! Those of you who work in the public service…well have a great day at work! 😊 If you’re looking for things to do with your kids, there are a few options on the website that you can have a look at. Otherwise, make sure to check to see what’s open and what’s closed for the holiday. The weather looks like it’s starting to get a little warmer on the long-range outlook, so hopefully the winter days are numbered. The Ottawa Boat Show is on this weekend at the EY Centre, so you can head out and dream about being on a boat cruising around the water in the sun. Let’s have a look at this week’s other featured events!
This week, we’ll start with the Ottawa 67’s who have only one home game, and it’s on Monday afternoon. What a great way to celebrate the day with the family to watch the 67’s take on the London Knights at 2pm at TD Place. The Ottawa Senators have three home games this week. Tuesday night, the Buffalo Sabres are in town, Thursday night, the Winnipeg Jets are visiting, and Saturday the Montreal Canadiens are here.
At the Gladstone this week, the latest by Pierre Brault, “5 O’Clock Bells!” continues for its second of two weeks. Mary Poppins in concert, Live to Film runs for three days, from Thursday to Saturday at the NAC.
Concert Pick(s) of the Week!
The Bronson Centre hosts The Beaches on Wednesday, and Bedouin Soundclash on Friday night. For local favourites, Ambush has two concerts this weekend; Friday they’re playing at Greenfields, and Saturday you can see them at Grace O’Malley’s. Finally, There There is playing an “invite only” show at The Turning Point on Sunday night. You can get your invite by messaging through Facebook. I saw him perform this year, and it was such a unique sound. I recommend going out to see him. You can read that review here.
Event Highlight of the Week!
This week has the season’s first 613Flea at the Aberdeen Pavilion. This monthly event is amazing and showcases the best of the best in a flea market atmosphere. There are so many amazing items available to purchase, it’s definitely worth having a look….bring your wallets!
Where will I be?
I’m really excited about heading out to the Beaches concert on Wednesday night put on by Spectrasonic. I saw The Beaches at the Smith’s Falls Backyard Shindig this past August, and I loved their sound. They’re just so much fun. You can see that review here.
I attended “9 to 5” last week, presented by Suzart After Dark. It was such a great show, and hopefully you got a chance to enjoy it! You can read my review here! The next Suzart show is Hairspray which will be running in May at Meridian Theatres @Centrepointe.
