December has kicked off in the only way it knows how….with cold!! Black Friday is now over, and I’m not aware of any significant injuries incurred throughout Ottawa, but man, watching those store-crashing videos on YouTube is fun!! There’s still Cyber Monday, but things are much tamer with only virtual fights.
Now let’s get down to business….there are tons of events this week though to keep us warm indoors.
Let’s stat this week off with theatre. Cottagers and Indians is running at the GCTC all week and ends on December 15th. At the Gladstone, Casablanca: The Radio Show kicks off on Friday for two weeks. At Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe, the latest Suzart Production of Mamma Mia! starts on Wednesday for a short run only until Sunday, so get out there and have a blast!!
There are some great live shows and concerts this week too!! The Biggs & Barr Holiday Giv’er with I Mother Earth takes place on Friday night at the Bronson Centre, IN2U is playing live at the Rideau Carleton Raceway on Friday and Saturday nights, and The Debaters have two shows on Saturday at the NAC. Saturday night is a really busy night for concerts too! In addition to those already mentioned, Sean McCann from Great Big Sea, is at the Algonquin Commons Theatre for his Christmas Party, The Mahones are at Mavericks, and Said the Whale is at Bronson Centre.
A full list of this week’s events can be found here!!
Where will I be?
I’ve got a busy week planned, or at least a busy couple of days. Wednesday night, I’ll be attending opening night of Mamma Mia! by Suzart productions. Thursday night, I’ll be attending the opening night of Christmas Glow at the EY Centre. This new event to Ottawa looks incredible, and I’m so excited to be able to see it on opening night.
After attending Christmas Glow to see what it’s all about, I’m heading to the Art House Café in Hintonburg to see There There in concert. Then finally, this weekend, the Christmas season continues with all kinds of different markets, so I’ll go out and see what all the fuss is about. ?
