Here’s to a beautiful fall weekend! Cheers!! We’re losing leaves like nobody’s business so get out and enjoy the sights while you still can. Christmas decorations are starting to push out the Halloween costumes in stores, so the fall season is running out! Our plowing company came by and put up all the stakes around our driveway this past week so that’s an awful sign of things to come. This week ahead has a whole lot of different events to look forward to so here’s a brief taste of what to expect!
First, we’ll start with sports! There’s a lot of hockey in town this week, so let’s get out and cheer on the home teams (as hard as that might be for some). Wednesday night, the Ottawa Senators play host to the Detroit Red Wings at Canadian Tire Centre. Then on Friday night, the New York Islanders are in town, and finally, the San Jose Sharks arrive on Sunday for an evening game. The Ottawa 67’s have two home games this week as well. On Friday night, the Kitchener Rangers are visiting, and Sunday afternoon, the Sarnia Sting are here.
Theatre is up in full swing this week too! Starting Tuesday, RENT kicks off for five days at the National Arts Centre. BANG BANG also starts on Tuesday and will run daily until November 10th at the Great Canadian Theatre Company. At the Gladstone this week, you’ll find the long-anticipated Bear and Co. Production of Lightfoot in Song. This show will have a two-week run starting on October 23rd. Then, starting Wednesday at the Ottawa Little Theatre, you’ll find Gaslight by Patrick Hamilton running until November 9th.
There are some great concerts lined up this week too! Monday night, you can catch PUP at the Bronson Centre, Tuesday night, Tegan and Sara are at the Algonquin Commons Theatre, Alanna Stirling is at Queen Street Fare on Wednesday, and Friday night, the Commotions are at Irene’s Pub for a Halloween Bash.
You can also find plenty of trade shows, festivals, and markets in Ottawa this week. For starters, the World of Poutine festival is on this weekend in Kanata, running Thursday to Sunday. The EY Centre is the place to be this weekend for trade shows: The Ottawa Rock N’ Gem Show is running Thursday to Saturday, The Ottawa Fall Wedding Show, and the Ottawa Franchise Expo are running Saturday and Sunday. The Sculpture Expo is on this Friday to Sunday at the Horticulture Building, the annual Christmas Craft Show takes place this week at the Nepean Sportsplex from Thursday to Sunday and you can see a whole list of vendors at the City of Ottawa Link. Finally, the Orleans Comic Book and Novelty show is on this Sunday at Place D’Orleans for one day only.
Where will I be?
It’s a busy week ahead with lots of activities but my only solid plan at this point is to head out to The Gladstone Wednesday night to see Lightfoot in Song. So stay tuned for a review!! I’m sure I’ll be out and about as usual so watch out for the Covert Cruiser.
