Covert Ottawa Weekly Update: Ottawa Events March 18th – 24th

Happy St. Patrick’s Day hangover day!!! I hope everyone was able to get out over the weekend and enjoy some green beer!! Maybe even out on the patio?? The sun was out for most of the day so why not kick off patio season early?

This week starts off a little slower, but the weekend is very very busy!!! There are so many fun things to do! First, I’ll start with Sports, because it’s quick and dirty. The Sens are not around this week with a full week of away games. However, the 67’s are kicking off the playoffs with Game #1 on March 22nd at 7pm! Let’s support Ottawa’s strongest hockey team in their playoff run!! #NOQUIT

Concerts this week are also a little slow for big names, but the highlight is Scott Helman at Algonquin Commons Theatre. He is young, but always puts on a great show! Friday and Saturday night, you can catch Ambush once again at the Rideau Carleton Raceway Casino! Also Friday night, you can see David Gogo at the Rainbow! On Saturday, you can head to the Bronson Centre and see Wintersleep and finally for the concert listings, you can see the Rock of Ages show on Thursday night at TD Place.

For other live entertainment this week, you can take your kids to see the latest Disney On Ice presentation at the Canadian Tire Centre. There are eight different shows between Thursday and Sunday so check the website to find the time that best suits your schedule. On the Theatre side, Shakespeare fans can rejoice with the Bear and Co. production of King Lear which starts Thursday and runs for two weeks at The Gladstone Theatre.

Trade shows are the hit this week!! From Thursday to Sunday, you can either head downtown to the Shaw Centre and take in the 2019 Ottawa Gatineau Auto Show, or you can come to the south end to the EY Centre for the Ottawa Home and Garden Show! UGH…I love that show, you can go and get jealous about how great your back yard COULD be! Another great event that kinda falls into the “trade show” grouping is the annual Ottawa Geek Market! This is like a mini-comiccon and gets bigger every year. So pull out your costumes and head over to the Nepean Sportplex on either Saturday or Sunday.

I have two events that need their own category of “AMAZING events” (that’s not the official title). First, The Lion, The WISH and the Wardrobe Charity Gala is happening on Sunday at the Centurion Conference Centre. The second “amazing” event is the inaugural edition of the Ottawa Coffee Festival. It takes place Saturday at the Horticulture building. This is such a great looking event and looks delicious!!!

Where will I be?

It’s my last full week of not being able to but weight on my broken ankle. I’m excited to get out on my own again. And….now that spring is getting here, I can!! I’m heading to the EY Centre for the Home and Garden show. I need some inspiration for my new deck. ? I am a bit of a geek at heart, so I hope to get to the Ottawa Geek Market as well, but we’ll see. And of course, the Ottawa Coffee Festival is a must see.
