I hope everyone had a great weekend!! There were so many fantastic events in all corners of the city, and the weather was quite lovely, so I hope you took advantage of that! This next week coming up is another great wintery week here in the Nation’s Capital. Winterlude continues for week three, with lots of events throughout the city! However, once again, I’m going to be pretty much bed and couch ridden due to my lovely broken leg (thanks ice!!!) and only three days post-op so I won’t get the privilege of taking in all that’s going on in Ottawa. Let’s get to it….
So this week is all about the concerts! There are a lot of big shows to go and see this week. First, for the country fans out there, Aaron Pritchett is hosting a valentines day bash at the Algonquin Commons Theatre, and then you can find Paul Brandt and High Valley at TD Place on February 16th. On Friday night, you can catch the Arkells at the Canadian Tire Centre, and on Saturday, Choir! Choir! Choir! or Amanda Rheaume can be seen separately on different stages at the National Arts Centre. Also on the Music scene, there are two brand new festivals this week. Tuesday night features the 1st annual Musiclude at the Overflow Brewing Company, and as I’ve recently announced, Come See and Hear the World is running this weekend with its inaugural festival. This brand new festival is brought to you by the management team behind Bluesfest and Cityfolk festival. It takes place over two nights at four different venues. All the details are on my calendar!
It’s a slower week in the city for sports, probably because all the big venues are full of concerts and live entertainment! The Ottawa Senators play Tuesday night against the Carolina Hurricanes and the Ottawa 67’s play host to the Hamilton Bulldogs on Friday night.
Continuing with the live entertainment, there are a few intriguing events on this week. The first is The Debaters, which stems from a CBC show that is absolutely hilarious. You can be a part of it on Tuesday or Wednesday night this week at Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck starts this week for its first of three weeks at Ottawa Little Theatre. At Centrepointe, the racy Suzart After Dark production of Cabaret starts on Valentines day with a two-week run. 18+ please.
Finally, there are two other events worth noting in this post. In case you aren’t aware, Thursday is Singles Awareness Day! However, if you’re in love on this day, you must check out the most romantic event in the city!! Ikea Valentines Day Dinner!! How can you not go? Finally, maybe not as romantic, but maybe so….the Ottawa Winter Brewfest is on all weekend!! Check out my events calendar for times.
Have a look at my weekly calendar for all of this week’s events:
Where will I be?
Looks like I’m not leaving the couch this week due to surgery recovery.
