Weekly Newsletter: Ottawa Events December 31st – January 6th

Happy New Years everyone!!! Out with the old, and in with the new! I hope everyone had a great 2018 with an even better 2019 in store! It’s been a great year for us here at Covert Ottawa Guy! Obviously, the biggest events of the week this week are the New Years Eve parties. If you haven’t seen it yet, I’ve put together a full list of everything going on in Ottawa and you can find that list by clicking here!!

Other than New Year’s celebrations, it’s a fairly quiet week, but probably just a bit of a holiday hang-over.

Theatre: Cinderella and the Ice Slipper continues at The Gladstone and runs until Sunday, January 6th. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical has eight different shows throughout the week at the NAC. There’s a pretty cool looking improv class called Truthful Improv on Sunday at Arts Court that looks pretty fantastic.

Sports: It’s a big week for hockey in the Capital with the Sens playing at home for three games, and the 67’s hosting twice. On Wednesday, the Sens take on the Vancouver Canucks, Saturday, the Minnesota Wild are in town, and Sunday, you can find the Carolina Hurricanes at the CTC. The Ottawa 67’s host the Barrie Colts on Saturday, and the Oshawa Generals on Sunday.

Seasonal Activities: At the Canadian Museum of Science and Technology, you can experience the excitement each day throughout the holidays starting on December 26th right through until January 6th with their Holiday Programming. At the Canadian Food and Agriculture Museum, you can also find some holiday family fun at Winter Frolic from December 26th to January 6th. The Magic of Lights continues each night at Wesley Clover Park, and you must buy your tickets in advance. Or, Parliament Hill continues it’s Christmas Lights Across Canada free show each night.

Where will I be?

NYE has so many options, and to be honest, I’m not even sure what I’m doing just yet!! On Sunday, I plan on once again attending the Sports Card and Comic show at the Jim Durrell Centre on Walkley. Other than that, I’m also taking advantage of some down time and will probably pack up the Christmas tree and decorations for another year.

It’s my birthday!!! Well, not really MY birthday, but Covert Ottawa Guy turned 2 this week. I’m super grateful for everyone’s support over the past two years!!
