As the winter weather continues early this year, and we inch closer to Christmas, take some time to celebrate another great week in Ottawa!! Also, just a shout out to the Redblacks for their big win on Sunday to advance to the Grey Cup!!! You can catch that game out of Edmonton on Sunday the 25th at 6pm. But….now with the local stuff:
Concerts: Another great showing of concerts in Ottawa this week. Although maybe not as busy as previous weeks, there are still some great live shows not to be missed. Although not a concert, on Monday, there’s a live workshop and meet and greet with UFC fighter Cody Garbrandt at Algonquin Commons Theatre. Sarah Blackwood from Walk Off the Earth is also at Algonquin Commons Theatre on Wednesday Night. A Tribe Called Red is playing Thursday at the NAC. On Friday, you can either choose between seeing Jeremy Hotz live at Algonquin Commons Theatre, or head over to TD Place for Brian Wilson presenting Pet Sounds. On Saturday the John Butler Trio is playing at the NAC, and a Jazzworks presentation of Kirk MacDonald’s CD release party is at Festival Japan.
Theatre: At The Gladstone this week, you can find the kick off of The Penultimate Problem of Sherlock Holmes starting on November 23rd and running until December 1st. The Sock ‘n Buskin Theatre is continuing their run of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” at the Kailash Mital Theatre on the Carleton University Campus. It can be seen Thursday and Friday. I’m excited to say that the Orpheus production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is continuing all week at Meridian Theatres @ Centrepointe. For the kiddies, Paw Patrol Live is playing all weekend at the CTC with multiple show times!
Sports: The Ottawa Senators only have one home game this week; On Monday night, the Florida Panthers visit the CTC. Don’t fret though, the 67’s have a pair of games this week if you’re looking for your hockey fix. On Wednesday, the Oshawa Generals are in town, and Saturday you can see the Sarnia Sting for an afternoon game. Don’t forget Grey Cup Sunday!!
Seasonal Activities: There are so many craft sales that I found for the weekend, that I simply didn’t list them as it would be overwhelming for both you to read, and selfishly, myself for loading. I chose a few select ones to add to the calendar. Wesley Clover Parks is continuing to host the Magic of Lights feature running each night until January 5th.
My top three events of the week:
- Dishing Up the 80’s (Saturday, Centurion Conference Centre)
- Aunt Thelma’s & Cameron’s Brewing Presents Hip Hop Brunch (Sunday, Kinki Lounge)
- Coconut Lagoon (Friday, Dominion City Brewing Company)
I attended “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” last Friday night at Meridian Theatres, and what a fantastic show!! You can find my review by clicking here!!
Did I mention that the Redblacks won their game on Sunday against the Hamilton Ti-Cats?? It was a great game on Sunday and I’m really excited about seeing them take on the Calgary Stampeders for the Grey Cup again! I just have to find myself a little watering hole and belly up to the bar with friends and/or family!
