Happy Thanksgiving!! This week, I’m thankful for a very, very busy week in Ottawa! There is so much going on, that I really have to pare down the list so it’s not overwhelming. I’m going to group the activities by theme this week:
Sports: The Ottawa 67’s have three home games this week. Wednesday, they take on the Kingston Frontenacs, Friday the Windsor Spitfires are in town and Sunday it’s the Erie Otters, all at TD Place. The Senators have two home games this week, Wednesday night against the visiting Philadelphia Flyers, and Saturday you’ll find the LA Kings in town. The Ottawa Fury have a match on Saturday versus the Charleston Battery.
Concerts: The featured concert of the week is the long-awaited Justin Timberlake live at the Canadian Tire Centre on Thursday. That’s not it though, you can also find Classified Friday night at Barrymores, the Cowboy Junkies at Shenkman on Thursday, Dear Rouge at the Bronson Centre on Friday, Monkey Junk at the Rainbow on Friday, and the interesting one, Video Game Music Live at House of TARG on Wednesday!!
Collectors: This Sunday is a big day for any collectors. The Ottawa Nostalgia and Collectors Show is running at the Nepean Sportsplex, and the monthly Card and Comic show is on at the Jim Durrell Centre.
Festivals: I’m excited for this weekend as Mac My Cheese Fest is running Friday to Sunday at Ottawa City Hall. This festival was taking a year hiatus last year, but is back with a vengeance this year! Also on Saturday, you can find the first edition of October West Craft Beer Fest taking place at Kanata Centrum where you’ll find lots of Craft beer selections.
“Récolte” continues until the end of October at Terrace on the Canal. This series of dinners allows you to eat a gourmet meal in a dome located beside the Rideau Canal. It looks amazing!! Tickets have sold really fast with only a few remaining, so make sure to grab them quickly!! Click here for full details.
My top three events of the week:
- Eco Gala (Horticulture Building, Thursday)
- Great Kitchen Party (Shaw Centre, Thursday)
- Get Sidified Fashion Gala (Sala San Marco, Friday)
I am honoured to have been asked to be a “celebrity” guest judge at Mac My Cheese Fest!! I guess word got out of my success at Poutine Fest last spring! Haha….I’m so excited!
Last week, I attended opening night of Fierce at The Gladstone! This play was truly incredible and such a great twist on common theatre. It was shocking, and I absolutely loved this change of pace. You can read my review here. It runs all week Tuesday – Saturday.
