With October wrapping up and November starting, Gala season is underway, so hopefully you’ve dusted off your gowns and tuxes because this is the first week of a busy winter season.
Galas: This week has many opportunities for you to get all dolled up and hit the town at some high fashion events supporting a variety of charities. Thursday night is the Dollars for Stem Cells Gala at Infinity Centre and Fall into Fall Cocktail Party at Beckta. On Friday, you can find the Vimy Awards Gala at the Canadian War Museum. Saturday is a busy day all around, but on the gala side, you’ll find the 3rd Annual SafePet Ottawa Shine Through the Night Ball at the Ottawa Marriott, and Steel Toes and Stilettos 13th Annual Gala at the Shaw Centre. All weekend (Friday – Sunday) you can catch the Ottawa Wine and Food Festival at the EY Centre with several different times available.
Concerts: Although not AS busy as last week for concerts, there are still several great shows available. Joe Bonamassa is at the Canadian Tire Centre on Wednesday night (if you’re looking for an excuse to get away from handing out Halloween candy). On Friday, you’ll have to choose between Amanda Rheume at Bar Robo, or GOOD2GO at Irene’s Pub. Then on Saturday, Fleetwood Mac rocks the CTC.
Sports: The Ottawa Senators have two home games this week; The Buffalo Sabres are visiting on Thursday, and Tampa Bay are in town Sunday night. On Friday night, the Ottawa Redblacks play their last regular season home game vs. the Toronto Argos. Then it’s playoff time!! Also under the “Sports” theme, all day Saturday at the Algonquin Commons Theatre, the GNC Allmax CPA Ottawa Championship is running.
Live Entertainment: At The Gladstone this week, you’ll find the hit “The Last Five Years” by Orpheus. This was originally running at Meridian @ Centrepointe in September but due to the Tornados, many of the shows were cancelled. The Gladstone is hosting the last few shows Thursday – Saturday, and what a treat!! You can read my review of it here! At Arts Court, you can find the continuation of Rocky Horror Show: The Musical running until Thursday.
Trade Shows: Although, I try to avoid posting too many Christmas Craft sales, as there are just so many different ones, the annual show at the Nepean Sportsplex is practically legendary!! It’s on this week from Thursday to Sunday! If you’re in the market for a wedding or prom dress (I mean really, who isn’t??) don’t miss the Bridal and Prom Fashion Show on Saturday at the Infinity Centre.
Halloween is getting closer!!! Saunders Farm continues its Frightfest right up until the 31st. Although last Saturday was the big night for most Halloween parties, there’s still plenty of activities this week. You can find my listing of all Halloween events in Ottawa here!!
My top three events of the week:
- Ottawa Vegan Market (Saturday, Aberdeen Pavilion)
- Volunteer Ottawa Annual Expo (Friday, City Hall)
- Ottawa Vintage Clothing Show (Sunday, Carleton University)
I’ve put together a list of all the events coming up for Halloween! The list is HUGE and made for day time family events as well as the night club parties!! You can see that listing here!
