Weekly Newsletter: Ottawa Events, May 7th – May 13th

Finally, nice weather has hit Ottawa, and it’s officially festival season!!! This week kicks off the warm season with Tulip Festival starting Friday and running until the 21st of May. If you’ve driven by the war museum and have seen all the tents, no it’s not Bluesfest yet, it’s the Children’s festival that starts this Friday! What a great event for the kids and the cost is free!! (some shows require tickets). You can see my review from last year’s event here. Finally, there’s another Poutine Festival running in Orleans this weekend from Friday – Sunday. The biggest trade show to hit Ottawa each year is hitting this weekend as Comiccon takes over the south end of Ottawa at the EY Centre. If you’ve never been, it’s such an amazing time for everyone! The costumes are outstanding!

Major concerts have returned to Ottawa after a break last week. Monday night, you’ll find Theory of a Deadman at the Bronson Centre, or Bon Jovi at the Canadian Tire Centre. Saturday has Honeymoon Suite at Casino Lac Leamy and CHANCES are playing Thursday night at the National Arts Centre. Another major live event occurs Saturday at the Canadian Tire Centre with the Red Bull Professional Bull Riding competition.

New this week at The Gladstone Theatre is “Cry Baby” opening Friday. I’ll be in attendance for opening night, so if you’re considering going, I’ll have a review posted over the weekend so you’ll have time to get tickets for week #2.

My top three picks of the week:

  • Food/Wine Show (Saturday/Sunday, Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum)
  • Comiccon (Friday – Sunday, EY Centre)
  • Cry Baby (Starts Friday and runs for two weeks, The Gladstone Theatre)

  • As you many have noticed this weekend, my website was down. I’m so sorry for this, it was for a variety of reasons, but the good news is, it’s back up, running and revamped!! I’m so excited to announce the redesign and am incredibly pleased with the way it has come together. Please have a look!! There may be a few tweaks to come, but it’s the 95% solution.

If you’re hosting an event in the future, I offer advertising and promotion packages…please click on: Promote your Event on the main menu for details.
