Weekly Newsletter: Ottawa Events March 12th – 18th

It’s a great week to be alive!! It’s March break for most of the kiddies, which means less traffic on the roads for non-parents. Then the week ends with St. Patrick’s Day where we all like to get out and enjoy a drink or two while listening to some Irish music. The fact that it falls right after March break doesn’t seem to be a coincidence to me!! Speaking of St. Patty’s day, I haven’t gone into details about where to find the parties, nor will I be posting my usual posts of all the hot spots in town. It’s one of those days where EVERYWHERE has a party, and typically, people go to their favourite watering hole with some friends. Here’s a discussion point if anyone wants to message, or leave a comment: Do you use the phrase “St. Patty’s Day” or “St. Paddy’s Day”?? I see it both ways in many places, and I’m sure there’s a correct way that I’m just not interested enough to look into.  What’s your preference, and why? Do you know the right answer?

Outside of St. Patty’s day, or St. Paddy’s day, there are many great events coming up. It’s another big week for the theatre world with the new production of A Night in November at the Gladstone Theatre, and the continuation of Godspell AND Grease at  Centrepointe Theatres! Also, on Sunday you’ll find a wonderful production of A Streetcar Named Desire at Ottawa Little Theatre supporting Options Bytown before the full production starts on March 21st. Also, NOMIX runs for two nights at the National Arts Centre and looks incredible! The major concert of the week is Santana at the Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday night. There’s a couple trade shows on this week too, with the Ottawa Valley Farm Show Tuesday – Thursday at the EY Centre, and then the Travel and Vacation Show hits the Shaw Centre Saturday and Sunday.

My top three picks of the week:

  • East Qualifiers Barista Competition (Horticulture Building, Friday)
  • 613 Flea (Aberdeen Pavilion, Saturday)
  • International Gala 2018 (The Westin, Saturday)

  • As a heads up, I was able to attend and review two great events this past week. I am working diligently on my reviews for both Grease at Centrepointe Theatres, and the Beau’s St. Patrick’s Day Party, held on March 10th. Hopefully both those reviews will be up by Wednesday or Thursday.

If you’re hosting an event in the future, I offer advertising and promotion packages…please click on: Promote your Event on the main menu for details. I’m also happy to come and review your event at the low cost of 2 complimentary tickets. ?
