Each week, I will be publishing a list of movies which are promoted to be in theatres on the upcoming weekend (Friday). I will only be indicating which movies are being released, but you’ll need to check local listings for movie times and locations. Only two movies out in Ottawa this week. Transformers is obviously the huge one to hit theatres and will likely take 1st in the box office this weekend.
Transformers: The Last Knight
Optimus Prime seeks redemption for destroying his home and an unlikely alliance made up of Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg), Bumblebee, an English Lord (Sir Anthony Hopkins), and an Oxford Professor (Laura Haddock) must go to battle against the Transformers for control of the planet. The secret to defeating the powerful machines lies buried in the secrets of the past and embedded in the history of Transformers on Earth. As tensions come to a head and each side vies for domination, the hunted become heroes, heroes become villains, and there’s only room for one world to survive: ours or theirs.
47 Metres Down
When two sisters, Lisa (Mandy Moore) and Kate (Claire Holt), decide to take a trip to Mexico, it quickly becomes a trip to remember. After meeting two locals, the girls are asked if they’d like to try cage diving to get up close with nature’s perfect predator – the Great White Shark. Though hesitant at first, Lisa is persuaded by the locals and her sister to give it a try. But the experience of a lifetime soon becomes a nightmare for the sisters as their cage detaches from their boat and sinks 47 meters to the ocean floor. Unfortunately, the girls are not alone as they battle to survive the jaws of several Great Whites hungry for prey with their oxygen tanks running dangerously low.
